SpecPoxy Coating is a two-component, high-performance epoxy coating system designed to provide excellent abrasion resistance and chemical protection to concrete and steel surfaces. This system is available in a selection of colors including Standard Gray, Clear, Red, Beige, and Black, offering not only performance but also aesthetic enhancement.

Application

  • Concrete Surface Preparation: Concrete must be at least 28 days old with all curing compounds and sealers removed, cleaned, and mechanically prepared to open the surface texture.
  • Steel Surface Preparation: All metal surfaces must be free of contaminants and sandblasted to white metal.
  • Mixing: Condition materials to 60°F – 90°F. Mix Parts A and B separately for one minute each, then together for three minutes.
  • Placement: Apply by notched squeegee or roller, back roll with a spiked roller to reduce surface imperfections and improve bond.

Packaging

  • Available in 3 gallon units (2 – 1 gal. Part A Resin & 1-gal. Part B Hardener) and 15 gallon units.

Shelf Life

  • Store in original containers, tightly closed, and do not allow accumulation of water or contaminants. The shelf life is two years from the date of manufacture.

Test Data

  • Coverage: Approximately 75-125 sq-ft per gallon, depending on the surface texture of the concrete.
  • Material Requirements: A two-coat application at a rate of 100 sq-ft per gallon per coat produces a 30 mil coating.
  • Compressive Strength at 28 days: 11,000 psi
  • Hardness (Shore D): 75-85
  • Re-coat Time: 6-18 hours
  • Suitable for Foot Traffic: 24 hours
  • Suitable for Wheel Traffic: 72 hours
  • Dry to Touch at 70°F: 3-5 hours
  • Pot Life at 70°F: 40-60 minutes
  • Mixing Ratio by Volume A to B: 2 to 1
  • Total Solids Content: 100%
  • Dry Film Thickness: 15 mils per coat

Cleaning

  • Clean tools and equipment with solvents such as SpecChem Solvent 100, Xylene, Toluene, or MEK immediately after use.
