September 2018 Share the Success: University of California, Riverside

Largo Concrete, Inc., Mark Meissner with HD Supply White Cap, and the University of California, Riverside, provided an opportunity to showcase a couple of our flagship products, featuring our Strong Bond – an  acrylic non-rewettable bonding agent & admixture – and SpecPatch 30, a general purpose polymer-modified concrete repair mortar. The project scope included the renovation of five separate concrete stairways, all needing various levels of repair and restoration.

The steps risers needed to be chipped back, as far as an inch. The substrate was properly prepped and Strong Bond was applied to the concrete substrate surface for superior adhesion. Strong Bond was added to the mix water to improve the flexural strength, adhesion strength and general durability of the SpecPatch to be applied.

While the Strong Bond was still wet, SpecChem’s SpecPatch 30 was then applied to the stairs, adding a vertical straight edge to the face, up to a full inch in depth.

Our SpecPatch line of concrete repair mortars is ideal for horizontal, vertical, and overhead applications for concrete floors, walls, precast, tilt-up or masonry surfaces, and is formulated to provide a durable repair that can be easily shaped by shaving or sanding while matching the color of the existing concrete.
